Add ice to martini glass to chill prior to making cocktail. Add rum & syrup ingredients to cocktail shaker with ice. Discard the ice in martini glass and strain cocktail into chilled glass. Pour lime juice into cocktail and look for the colour change.

The litmus vanilla daiquiri is our twist on the classic daiquiri. The daiquiris are a family of cocktails who’s main ingredients are: rum, lime juice and sugar. The daiquiri is one of 6 cocktails that made David Embury’s infamous cocktail book: The Fine Art Of Mixing Drinks.
History of the Daiquiri
The word daiquiri is also the name of a beach and iron mine in Cuba and is a word of Taino origin. Although a chequered history, there is a theory the drink was invented by an American mining engineer who was in Cuba at the time of the Spanish-American War. Another theory includes the US congressman who purchased the Santiago iron mines as the founder of the Daiquiri to America, starting with the clubs in New York in 1902.
The daiquiri was the favourite cocktail of Ernest Hemingway and President John F Kennedy.
Our Twist On The Daiquiri
To add a Mr Flavour twist we have infused rum with butterfly pea flower tea. Butterfly pea flower tea is a caffeine-free herbal tea using the whole flower of the clitoria ternatea plant. The blue flower infuse the rum to a dark blue colour after infusion. Creating the ‘blue rum’ bottle you received in your virtual masterclass box.
The distinct characteristic of the butterfly pea flower tea is that it will change colour when the pH balance changes, exactly the same as litmus paper does when brought in touch with acidic pH. The deep blue cocktail will turn purple with the addition of lime juice creating a fabulous colour change during your cocktail masterclass!
