After another hugely successful Halloween party planner season, we have decided to help those planning their future Halloween parties with some handy tips and tricks to throw the perfect Halloween party.
Halloween parties have become increasingly popular over the past years and provide a great opportunity to show your creativity (and scary) side. The current trend for Halloween parties seems to be one of two types of party; Either going the classic horror, blood emphasised gore theme with references to horror movies, horror characters and historical figures known to have a darkness around them. Alternatively, a slightly lighter hearted stylish Halloween themed party with elements of the theme highlighted throughout can be delivered when planned and executed correctly. Here’s our top 5 tips to throw the ultimate Halloween party:-
It’s Halloween, make sure everybody knows! Pick you Halloween theme carefully and execute it accordingly, for example hosting your themed Halloween party at home? Create a haunted house vibe, mental asylum, graveyard etc. Your décor is the single most important element to nail this theme. Add unexpected touches to your décor such as haze machines in gardens, silhouettes lit up outside, all lights off for entry to your party etc. It’s important to set the tone of the party right at the beginning, start strong and the party sets the tone for what to expect for the rest of the evening. Being Halloween party planners, we always ask our clients to tell us what they expect and what they want to deliver from any event, the more specific and ideas you have for your décor, the better.
Entertainment – Go for interactive options
Having a juggler, magician and a fire breather is old school. We are now in a social media era so have impact performers that record well:- Have freaky clowns, day of the dead dressed girls, zombies and have them running at you or staring at guests as they enter your party grunting, jumping, laughing and anything else freaky! Halloween party planning has become about how far you can push it to get a thrill!Halloween themed food and drink
9 times out of 10, your guests aren’t coming to your Halloween party for a full gourmet dinner, so keep it simple. Go for finger foods and bowl foods. Add elements of fun such as presented using dry ice on platters so that canape stations smoke while being carried through the crowd. Consider adding sweet treats throughout with such creative cake companies around, explore options and ideas with bakers.

Drinks – now this is where your guests will really have fun! Previous Halloween parties we have planned include creative cocktails such as blood transfusion bags filled with bloody Marys, eyeball martinis, witches’ brews, vampire kiss and so much more. Pick cocktails where the guests interact with bartenders for added effect.
Know where to light up and where not to light up
Halloween party planners need to pick up and create an atmosphere, our biggest tool to do this is through lighting. Halloween is a slightly unusual event as to create the mood it’s actually more about how to use lighting effectively and not add too much light as it can kill the mood! Dim lighting throughout is key but highlighting certain areas can create a freaky scenario. Ideas include lighting up skeletons in corners of a room, strobe lighting in halls, lighting up gravestones in a garden. Be creative with your lighting.
There’s no party without music
It’s a Halloween party, we get it, don’t drill every music song that has a Halloween theme to it, be tasteful. Start your night with your more lighthearted Halloween songs like Thriller to set the tone but move more into your favourite kind of music. The night is about having fun, your outfits, décor and entertainment will deliver that, so play the music you and your guests enjoy! We have some great Dj’s who we work regularly events with that are specialists in a range of genres
